Colorful artistry inspired by the Sonoran Desert.

Created and owned by artist, Melinda Kane

It started with one piece…

Well, there’s a bit more to it, but that’s where the name comes from. One textured and tall saguaro standing out against a bubblegum pink background on an unfinished wood slice. This painting will always hold a special place in the heart of this Tucson based artist, as it began the colorful adventure that Melinda continues on today.

Her work is easy to spot across a room or market, featuring her signature vibrant color palette and a medley of Arizona based flora and fauna. Melinda’s favorite subject is the saguaro, which only grows in the Sonoran Desert. She incorporates this beautifully bizarre plant in much of her work, along with other cactus, wildflowers, desert animals, and more.

Her mediums include…

Acrylic paint on canvas and wood slices of various sizes

Watercolor and Gouache on watercolor or mixed media paper

Acrylic and Posca Markers on terra cotta trays, and more

Digital artwork using an Apple Pencil and Procreate on an iPad

Melinda is always learning and exploring creatively, but can’t get enough of the Sonoran Desert as her muse.
