It started with one painting…
Well, there’s a bit more to it, but that’s where the name comes from. One textured and tall saguaro standing out against a bubblegum pink background on an unfinished wood slice. This painting will always hold a special place in the heart of this Tucson based artist, as it began the colorful adventure that Melinda continues on today.
Her work features her signature vibrant color palette, a combination of visible hatching and dry brushstrokes, and a medley of Arizona based flora and fauna. Melinda’s favorite subject is the saguaro, which only grows in the Sonoran Desert. She incorporates this beautifully bizarre plant in much of her work, along with other cactus, wildflowers, desert animals, and more.

Melinda is always learning and exploring creatively, but can’t get enough of the Sonoran Desert as her muse.
